Een Embraer 190 van Mozambique Airlines (LAM) is gecrasht in Namibië. Aan boord waren 28 passagiers en 6 crew, niemand overleefde het ongeluk. Vlucht TM470 was vrijdag onderweg van Maputo, hoofdstad van Mozambique naar Luanda, hoofdstad van Angola. Boven Namibië begon het vliegtuig plotseling te dalen met 5000ft/minuut totdat radar en radiocontact was verbroken om 11:30. Zaterdagochtend kwam het bericht dat het vliegtuig in een verlaten deel van Namibië gevonden was, in natuurpark e Bwabwata National Park. Een helikopter is er heen gestuurd.
Het ministerie van Transport van Mozambique verklaart dat hevige regen een rol zou kunnen hebben gespeeld.
Het vliegtuig had nummer: C9-EMC en is gebouwd in 2012. Ruim een jaar geleden was het in dienst genomen en had 2905 uur gevlogen in 1877 cycles. De captian had 4000 vlieguren en de FO zo’n 1000.
Lam zegt in een persbericht:
It is with great sadness and regret that we must confirm the tragic loss of LAM flight TM470.
We have received confirmation from the Namibian Civil Aviation Authority that the search party and its inspectors have located and identified the aircraft wreckage at a site in northern Namibia.
At this time, our thoughts and prayers are with the families and loved ones of the passengers and crew who were on board the aircraft. LAM has established family assistance centres at Maputo and Luanda airports to support the families who are naturally distressed.
Flight TM470 was a scheduled service from Maputo to Luanda. It was carrying 28 passengers and six crew members. The passengers comprise citizens of the following countries:
Mozambique (10);
Angola (9);
Portugal (5);
France (1);
People’s Republic of China (1);
Brazil (1).
The crew comprises two pilots, three cabin attendants and a technician.
