Airbus maakt op de Aircraft Interiors Expo 2015 in Hamburg een nieuwe stoelindeling bekend: Budget Economy. Gewone Economy is omgedoopt in Comfort Economy. Uiteraard bestaat er ook nog Premium Economy. Met het nieuwe Budget Economy stapt Airbus van de 18 inch stoelbreedte af. De smalle stoelen zijn bedoeld voor de reiziger die alleen op de prijs let.
Van alle A330’s vliegt al 10% met budget economy stoelen. Van de bestellingen wordt 27% uitgerust met de smalle stoelen. Een premium economy rij heeft 1 stoel minder dan de budget variant. Voor de A380 betekent de budget economy 11 stoelen op een rij. Het komt in de opstelling 3-5-3. Deze stoelen blijven wel 18″ breed
